Pucón, Chile is located south of Santiago. It is located near Lake Villarrica and the snow-capped Villarrica Volcano. My boyfriend and I were so happy we could squeeze a visit to Pucón into our 3 week trip. We both wanted more time in Pucón. I am confident I will make it back someday to Pucón.
Pucón is an adventure town with so many different activities and hikes available. With our 48 hour stay in Pucón we were able to visit the geothermic hot springs, hike to a waterfall, and kayak around the lake. We missed out on hiking the snow capped volcano, hydro speeding, and hiking the national park.
I loved meeting a local during our hike to a nearby waterfall. We were basing our journey to this waterfall on a man-made map, which had directions like "turn left after the speed bump". Not only where we able to find the waterfall and all the view points with the help of our new friend, he invited us over for dinner! It was great to interact with all his local friends and see what they consider a "barbeque". If you can't tell from the pictures below, it was random assortmets of pizza.
Oh, we stayed at the Chili Kiwi Hostel in a tree house. It's on the list of unique places we stayed at during our trip!
